Just found out this weekend that they have put my dad on hospice. He has Malignant tumors in his stomach which is cancer. This is life- threatening.
He has been basically resistant to care at the nursing home. Would not go to the hospital for surgery.
I am going to fly out and see him in about a week from now. Or sooner if possible.
The sad thing is I haven't seen my father in 10+ years.
This is going to be the hardest thing for me 2 do.
My sister lives in Australia and can not come out to Ohio so I will be doing this journey alone.
Please say your prayers for me. I don't ask much. I know the power of prayer works wonders. I know it won't make my daddy live.. but hopefully the prayers will bring me strength.

I am so very sorry to hear this, Heather. You won't be alone, we'll all be there with you in spirit, holding your hands and giving your strength.

I think one of the hardest things to accept is when a loved one decides that they have gone as far as they want to go in life's journey and are ready to move on to whatever comes next. We think they are being selfish by not fighting, but sometimes prolonging the inevitable only brings more pain and heartache.

I pray that the rest of his journey is as pain free and peaceful as possible. Treasure this opportunity to spend this time with him. Hospice is a WONDERFUL organization, don't be afraid to take advantage of all the services they offer. I think Hospice workers truly are angels on earth.

I'm keeping you and Dad close in my heart and prayers. :grouphug

Thanks EVERYONE soooo much for ALL your kind words.
I found out that my step dad is going to be traveling with me due 2 the fact that my mother does NOT want 2 see him.
So my step dad is going with me. I think that is great.
I just got a job promotion at work today.. Â

Â Soooo I will not be able 2 go out until the end of the month. February 28th.
Little longer then I wanted 2 wait. BUT the airfares are crazy right now. So everyone please keep me in your prayers.... and thanks again....really means alot 2 this girl... Â
