Not a real big deal, but it's nice to be recognized.  Considering only 10 teachers a year get it, it made me feel pretty good.  The principal said some pretty nice things about me.  It was a good day.  

. . . and I didn't get off early, but left at 3:30 instead of the usual 5 or 5:30.

LOL I'll get one in a couple of months (teachers get raises every year of about 1K to 1.2K a year. Plus, I plan on doing tutoring next year, so that will be another 300-400 a month. and I'm trying to take over the National Junior Honor Society which has a small stipend. I'll be done with all my beginning teacher 2 year induction program, so I'll have the time to do that sort of stuff.  It looks good on a resume also.  They're trying to get me to be dept chair, but I know my limits.  I'll wait a few years for that.

Unfortunately CA is making it very difficult for good teachers to want to stay in the profession.  I admire those who are sticking it out...I left after 18 years in Special Ed.  :(
