Chevy is asking for another 16.6 billion in bail out and says they are going to lay off 47,000

Chrysler says they need another 5 billion and are gonna lay off 3,000

Just like that add another 50,000 to the already broke Unemployment Line!!

here's the story:
DETROIT -- General Motors Corporation's restructuring proposal says the company may need up to $30 billion in government loans as it implements a survival plan that includes cutting 47,000 jobs and closing five more U.S. factories.

GM submitted the dire plan to the Treasury Department on Tuesday to explain how the Detroit automaker will become viable and repay its loans. It says GM will try to borrow up to $16.6 billion more from the government, on top of the $13.4 billion it has already received.

With the restructuring, GM expects to start repaying the government in 2012 and fully pay off the loans by 2017.

GM says it has considered the option of bankruptcy, but the only credit available to finance a reorganization would be from the government, and it could cost as much as $100 billion.

Chrysler originally said that it would need just another $3 billion on top of the $4 billion in government loans it received in December. But it said Tuesday it will need an extra $2 billion to survive the unprecedented decline in the auto industry.

The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker says it has reached fundamental agreements on concessions with unions, dealers, suppliers and lenders to achieve the concessions required by its government loan terms.

Chrysler also says it will reduce a manufacturing shift, remove 100,000 units from production capacity and cut costs by $700 million.

Hell man; that ain't nothin'! Our governator added 10,000 today and is gonna add another 10,000 tomorrow! Thank heavens we're gettin' some of that stimulus package. Gonna need it to pay the unemployment benefits of the state workers gettin' laid off. :angry  :( When and where does all this BS end? :confused

The man in office today has damn little to do with where we're at right now. But he does have a helluva lot to do with gettin' us out of it; and I for one sincerely hopes he can pull it off. And if he does, I'm afraid it's gonna take longer than 4 years and a helluva lot more sacrifice by many than they've shown as of late. We're just at the starting line folks.

Gotta agree with da Gig on this 100%. I'd be happy with him if he could just stop the landslide. But at what cost. All this money he's printing will have to be paid back one way or another. At least with the bailouts for the Big 3 and home mortgages there getting to hold the paper as a loan and not a gift. By the way, that's called Socialism. So far only a million homes have been forclosed on, many market watchers are predicting 6 million more this year.

They are, but only for a few days, I think it was like 10.
The best news here is Freddie and Fannie are letting the peeps stay in there home and pay rent. Haven't heard a word on how much the rent is in comparision to the mortgage they couldn't pay.

It's not the burger ya goof! It's the off-chance that he'll be able to meet the dauntless poster, WATERDOG. So humble you are. :p  The only plans I have in the future is my Granddaughter's 1st birthday on Sat., Feb. 28th. Other than that my days are pretty much open. Disability does have some advantages. :good

Throw some dates up and let's see if we can find something that fits most. I'm maybe 1/2 hour away, so it's no big deal for me.

Well said, I agree.  :good

I have my moments; like 'em or not. :p

I think da Gig is going soft on us. Nothing a bit of road kill and a bottle of tequila won't fix. :D

Make it a Nessy burger (still waitin', ya engrates) and a quart of rum and coke or Jack and coke and I'm all over it! And don't let my "soft tone" fool ya. It's all a ploy. Ah $hit! Now ya made me go and let the cat outta da bag! :p

That Nessy idea was yours. Pick a friggen date already.  :good

You tell me! All of my calendar days are open. It's you guys that muck things up w/prior commitments like jobs, boatin', honey-do lists,; whatever. I'm ready when y'all are. :good  :p

Let's get this ship in the water....I'm gonna have to make a run down for this gathering.  :good

That's quite a drive for a burger.  :good

I'm available anyday till 3/28. Let Dirty suggest a day as he has the longest drive.

You ARE humble. But I think ya need to cinch up your skirt. Your "consideration" is showing. :p  I agree. The peops w/the "miles and miles to go" should be the ones to "set the tone". You and da gig are in no way encumbered w/a commute for this deal. :good So speak up, "long-runners"!

I had to run over and check out the LHCMA site. When at war, it's important to know who the enemy really is. Actually I'll be at Nessy's on the 28th. Thought it a bit fast to invite the group.

Is that different than Humble. I'm pretty sure it is. I'm just doing my part to help them stay in business till we get there. Haven't been in a few months so it's also time for a quality assurance check. I'm especially critical of the Nacho's. Just barely enough salty chips it raise the BP 50 points. More than enough chesse to block all artteries. A ton of Jalopeno's that you'll wish you never ate 2 days later. I'll let you guess what the chili is gonna do for ya. :peace

I must have wrote that wrong. Hits you after the 3rd bite and doesn't go away for 2 days, sometimes 3. They're really good.
