Looks like the valve covers are now leaking on the cheby.  :banghead  Been smelling a slight oil burning for a few weeks. Just had a chance to look over the weekend. Pretty wet towards the back of the covers. Another project I have to make time for in my schedule to get fixed.  :rolleyes  :beat

Like Your First Girlfriend,  They Are Easy.... :D  :rotflmao

:rotflmao  I'm sure they are. Just time to get them done. Need to degrease the engine as well. Between the pan leak and now the valve covers. The motor is a mess.   :banghead

I have totally out grown my tool boxes. I have a box sitting in front of my box now with a bunch of tools I have no place to store. SOOOO!!  I ordered the China Stores US General 26" Cabinet, top box and the side box. Getting black this time. Boxes I have are OLD craftsman red boxes and one of my top boxes is grey. I have two 6 drawer top boxes stacked up on a 5 drawer roll around. Drawers are dragging from the weight and wore out. I will be gaining about 6 more drawers with this new setup. I don't have room for the 42" they have. Ill be squeezing this setup in as it is.

Then, Driving around over the weekend in the rain turned into a joy in the Taco. The tires are done. No traction what so ever. SO I have a set of Pirelli's Scorpion Verde A/S Plus on order via Discount tire. I have Pirelli Scorpion's on the chevy and really like them, so I figured I would give them a shot on the Taco. They should go on Monday afternoon hopefully before I have a real issue. Today I drive the chevy since it's supposed to be raining by the time I get off work.

Lot of fun driving in the rain with slicks. :eek  :laugh

US General are good boxes for the price, I got this one minus the right side cabinet, all ball bearing had it for over 10yrs now works great. :good

Here is the setup I got

Man I hope so. Top box alone is about 150lbs.  :eek    :good  I think we figured the bottom box is about 185lbs. Took 2 of us to unload it when I got home. Between the two top boxes and the bottom I have now is probly the weight of just the new top box.  :laugh

New box is always nice, been thinking of adding another side cabinet to mine. New brakes do wonders, not to mention give a more secure feeling while driving. :good

Got the new shoes on the Taco and so far they feel great. Handles fantastic.  They also killed about 75% of the noise i was hearing. Now I'm hearing a noise coming from the rear end. I don't think it's ring and pinion related. I'm thinking carrier bearing or axle bearing. Doesn't change pitch when you get on the gas or lift. But changes with speed. Only way I can describe it is it might have a flat spot on a bearing. Did a little research and found there is a TSB on it that I never heard of or did see. From what I can tell there were issues with the ring and pinion and sounded like whole differentials were being replaced. Under warranty. Some had axle bearings and one place I saw a guy had teethe missing on the ring gear.  :eek   Time to get it in the air and do some checking. In my spare time of coarse.  :rolleyes   Still need to replace the valve cover gaskets on the Chevy. If it was warmer out I would do things like this in the evening.

Yep, time to get under there and check things out, don't want to wait till it has a failure, they can be costly. :eek Yeah, that cold $hit puts a real damper on getting things done. :banghead  :angry

COOL :good Got tired of the wife ruining her machines every time she made heavy duty stuff like wheel covers and $hit, so I told her I'd get her another one and we'll get an industrial for heavy stuff, found her an old White that's like new for $50, looks and runs like it just came out of the box. :good
We been stuck between Juki and Consew but they sure keep their value, anything decent that hasen't been run to the ground is anywhere from $900-$1300, found a place in the Garment District in LA that has a brand new 206RB-5 for $1280, comes with a K table, brushless servo motor, thread stand, light, bobbin winder, knee lift, only extra I bought was a needle positioner, the whole works out the door was $1400, and since we were going to LA anyways figure we'd pick it up instead of paying for shipping, figure I couldn't go wrong with that..  :good

I know Juki is a good machine as well. And yes they hold value as long as they have been taken care of. Sounds like your all set. Now you can do the seats in the Spectra while your at it.  :good   Speaking of, how is that going??

Heck, we looked at quite a few that were sloppy as hell and they still wanted a bunch for them. :beat  :rolleyes Yeah, I was thinking  about doing the seats myself, be a good learning experience for sure. :good With all the wind, rain and cold we been having haven't been able to get $hit done on the boat :banghead and time is going by quick. :pissed

Got it all together yesterday just have to figure out the knee lift, love how all this stuff comes without instructions, and since the table is universal it was a real PITA fitting the head to the table, but it all came together and it looks good, can't believe how quiet this motor is too. :good

Knee lift can be a great tool once you get use to it. Little getting use to. Good looking setup  :good  I need to look into getting a new top. Mine is warped sagging In the middle. Not to bad just a little annoying. Wish I had time to play around with it.

Driving home Wednesday I played with it a little. From a stop it feels like the drive shaft is bouncing up and down at the carrier bearing. also when rolling about 25 - 30 and rolling into it to speed up.. Drove the Chevy today and also will Friday since I need to go pickup the trailer for Saturday. I'll crawl under the Taco Sunday and check it out.

Yep, sounds like the carrier bearing, My Burb did the same thing when I got it, bearing is probably good just the rubber cage is shot, at least that's the way mine was, I hate 2 piece driveshafts. :beat

I think the bearing is gone too since I have a noise like a bearing has a flat spot. I will be crawling under it sunday to see if I can find the noise and check the carrier bearing. I'll yank the shaft and take it to the same place I had the chevy done. Don't have time to play with it myself right now. I still have the boat  to get ready for DS in April and valve cover seals for the Chevy to do. Work is Kickin my a$$!!!!  :banghead

Well, if you have noise then the bearing is definitely bad, too bad you're so far away or we could do it real quick here.

Carrier bearing seems to be OK. Now the rubber around is in tack, but seems real soft. U-Joint all are nice and snug. No slop in the ring and pinion. Took my screw driver/stethoscope and poked around while I had it up in the air. Definitely the sound is coming from the rear end. Everywhere I placed the screw driver the bearing sounded dry (best way I can describe it) Just not sure exactly from what bearing making the niose. Stopped and talked to the guys at AZ Diff this afternoon, they can do a total rebuild for 700 bones. I just got to figure out how to get it there and be able to pick it up.

As for the Chevy. I was going to attack the Valve covers this weekend. But the weather may keep me from doing that. We will see.
