Yep!!! Probly going to be at least 3 trips to the dump.
My schedule is all jacked up. I thought this was going to be a short week. It's not. It's next week that's short. We have races at Wild Pony Pass this Saturday night. Gives me a little more time to get the boat fixed to go out on the Friday I have off.

I hope so. Only thing so far going on this weekend is the races Saturday night. If the evenings stay as they say. I might be able to dive into it one night this week.

Finding out the dump is going to charge me quite a bit to unload this concrete according to some friends that had a bunch of concrete to get rid of them self's. So I'm looking into a couple places to either pick it up or I can drop it off. Like to get something doe this friday while I'm home.

Races Saturday night went real good. Only had 11 entry's for one class and 4 for the other. Everyone els had a light car count as well. Got sloowed don by a couple oil downs and then someone decided to go jack rabbit hunting off the end of the track. They got a pickup truck stuck trying to get the car out so it took longer to clear the end of the track due to now they had 2 to get out of the sand. Sport Comp was won by a guy thats been kicking a$$ in his gasser style '65 mustang. Buddy with the vega won the Top Compl class We wrapped up about 2 am and headed to get something to eat. We walked in the door at 5am Sunday.
Jim Maroney was out doing a dry run with his new Top Fuel Dragster, team and rig. Sweet looking car!!! Didn't make any pass's as they were waiting for a fuel pump. They are shooting to be in Vegas in a few weeks. They were also out taking pictures before they get the car all covered with decals to send out to do promotions.

Engineers need to work on what they design after it's been on the road a few years. Been smelling gas at the rear of the GF mom's car. An '05 Malibu. Doing research I find that there are 2 lines coming off the pump that what I'm gathering either split or break. OK that's fine, welcome to AZ and a 15 year old car, things will dry out. Only thing is, you can't just replace the lines, You have to replace the whole freak'n fuel pump. The lines are part of the pump that's going to be about $300. I guess the figure that if the lines dryed out, cracked, split or what ever, It's time to replace the pump?? Either way, the tank has to come out of the car. Oh and lets not forget that they can't design an easier access like a trap door through the floor above. Guess what I'm doing Saturday morning.

I take it it's the return line that's broke?, isn't there a hard line going to the back with a short length of hose on each end???, never heard of or seen hose going all the way back??, and being part of the pump that's a new one there, that's gotta be a pi$$er to replace??.. BTW, I made an access door in my Burb, I can change the pump/sending unit in 20 minutes and be on my way.. I HATE newer vehicles..

Turns out that there was only one line that was part of the pump. It's only long enough to get to the side of the tank. At the end is a quick connect that connects to the steal line going to the front of the car. Once I got the tank down we could see that over half the top had been wet. There is a clean strip on top of the pump itself that's about a half inch wide. I'm guessing that was where the majority of the gas was either flowing or spraying. All in all wasn't a hard job. What made it difficult was laying on the ground. Also getting the tank in and out. I have a couple milk crates that worked out with a couple 2x4 blocks to hold it up and get it back in the car. Had to drop the exhaust as well to get the tank out. Took me about 6 hours total. I took my time to try not to bust a knuckle, but also not to damage anything more than I needed to. Once back on the ground, we put the 1/4 tank of gas back in it and ran around the hood. So far no gas smell. At $270 I hope I don't have to do it again for awhile.

Yeah no $h!t. That's why I put an access door in mine. Â
The thought did cross this o'l bean. Only thing that would be an issue would be the line that's part of the pump to get it out of it's place on the tank and the new one back in place. My bet that fitting on the end wouldn't fit between the tank and the car it self.

Here is the top of the tank. The red arrows show where the line goes. The green circle is what the fitting looks like that connects to the line going to the front off the front of the tank. The quick connect shown is not there on the car I worked on. That end of the line is molded to the pump then is positioned in the slot going to the front of the tank, then down the front of the tank where it connects to the line going to the front of the car with the quick connect. The tank is right against the floor of the car.

Oh wow, I see where you're at now, nothing like I had visualized, seems the newer the vehicle the worse it gets. I just have two fittings and a piece of hose, pop the lock ring and out it comes, I have about 3" between the floor and the tank which is in the center.

Saturday morning I decided to pull the ceiling fan down in the living room that's been leaning more and more lately. I swear this dude had to have had an endless supply of screws. First of all the fan wasn't even close to have been hung correctly. I don't know why it didn't fall. The bracket that attaches to the "J" box was drywall screwed to a plastic "J" box. Screws were about 3" long. From the living room I could only see that the box was plastic and had no idea how it was hanging there. Once up in the attic this morning, I could see that they had used the cheesiest bracket I have ever seen. I ripped that out and put up a heavier "METAL" bracket and box. I had to cut the hole in the ceiling out for the bigger metal box. Then remounted the fan the way it supposed to be. It doesn't lean any more and it's not going to come down on it's own.
Just inside the garage from the house someone has built a wood platform, It's the same height as the house floor and there is a ramp coming off that into the garage. In between the doorway and this platform they had put this cheesy threshold molding that was nailed down covering a gap. One end of it kept coming loose and I was tired of tripping on it. So I tore that up and replaced it with a Nice wooden one. I got a little carried away by using the stain that was left. It's now stained the same look as the base boards in the house. and it is screwed down. I used normal wood screws that I counter sunk and made it look purdy.

WOW, some people just don't have a clue or think, ceiling fan falling can be a disaster, might want to wear a helmet in the house until you check them all out. I've always said that some people shouldn't be allowed to own tools let alone work on stuff.
