Well, after 4yrs of looking finally found a round eye on this planet for a decent price that wasn't ready for the recyclers, it's a 79 1/2 ton with a factory big block and TH400 got it for $2200, it is a project but not too bad, mainly has 40yrs of neglect, and the electrical is pretty sad, first thing gotta do is clean it up so I can find the bolts.

Yeah, it's in good shape no rot anywhere, just one small spot on the drivers side by the back window not a big deal, there a few tiny dents but that's easy fix too, engine sounds really good but it does have leaks, gonna pull engine and tranny out to clean it up, I'll drop the pan and clean it and take a look at the bearings and probably give it a new timing chain at the same time and seal it all back up, gotta get an overdrive for it though. Yeah, I was lucky to find a 1/2 ton with a big block, don't see that hardly at at all, only bad part it has a tailgate, major PITA but I'll just have to live with it, not that big a deal..

Now that's what you need to put a 4L80e in. Sounds like a good solid Burb. With the age you got to expect some issues, but doesn't sound like anything major. Now that can be a cool cruiser as well.

Got the trim sensors in and the wires routed through the transom and secured. Have the bell housing back in place ready for the drive. Once the drive is back on I have the shift cables to adjust and clamp the drive side of the shift cable bellows, and I still need to rout and connect the sensor wires inside. I also picked up a new bulge pump that's going to be fun to wire up. They didn't leave a whole lot of slack in the wire even though I cut them right at the old pump.

Yep that's the plan unless i run into a Gear Vendors for a good price, but I'm sure I'll find a 4L80E first. Plan is to make it just like the Nova, plain simple and reliable, none of the fancy $hit to take a crap on the road, gonna put a Vintage Air system in it too and get rid of all that garbage under the hood. But first thing first, gonna pull the engine and trans out today or tomorrow and start cleaning 40yrs of crud so I can find stuff, clean and reseal the engine then check over the suspension, it does look pretty stout from what I can see now..

Sounds like you're well on your way, keep it up and you'll be on the water before summer is over.

I hear ya, while you're into it may as well check the whole works from one end to the other, catch anything now to avoid breakdowns on river trips, that sucks big time.

Got the drive on this morning. Just about everything I touched went to crap. My rivet gun was broke. I decided to re-engineer the bracket I made to hold the shift cable when I found the rivet gun broke. So off to get a new one. Got that tool done and started to put the drive on and the wind was picking up. Then the "O" ring for the water jacket wouldn't stay in place. Pulled the drive back and redid that. Got the drive on and torqued. Have everything back together outside, just need to get inside and adjust the shift cables and install the new bulge pump. Oh and adjust the trim sensor. Called it quits due to the wind blowing everything around.

Yeah, that wind sucks big time, but I think we're done with it for a while now, it's finally warm enough to keep the cold from coming down preventing the hot/cold clash.

I was finally able to get the Taco into Discount Child Care to take care of the tire shake. Went to the one in Metro Center, a different one than I have been going to. Was there for 2 1/2 hours. They found all the tires were off 1 1/2 ounces plus. Also the light hasn't gone off since I had these tires put on. Found 2 sensors were bad. Had them replace them while there. Wasn't to bad this morning and the light was out. I'll give it a couple days and see what happens. I need to start going somewhere ells. I can't seem to get tires balanced the first time at Discount and is pain in the a$$ to get in and out. Parking sucks and they don't have enough bays and personnel to get people serviced quicker.

As I figured they didn't have it. SO it must have fell off somewhere on the road. They are ordering me a new one. I hope they get it before next weekend. Heading to Payson for the weekend for the GF's mom's 80th birthday gathering.

They called this morning and said it's supposed to be on the truck to deliver this afternoon. We will see.
Well the boat is all back together bu the bulge pump. Trim sensors adjusted, Shift cables adjusted everything plugged in and ready to go. Going to try to pull the trailer off the blocks in the next couple days and run it around the block to rotate the tires and air.
Didn't get much done over the weekend. I did get the front yard mowed.

Didn't get much done here, got the engine out and started on the tranny, parts for the pressure washer should be here today sometime, get that done tomorrow and start cleaning the frame and suspension.
