Jeff's been working on this for several months and we finally got some pics up to post.  He started building this rock buggy, and then decided to put liberty body panels on it.  I tink it's really cool and can't wait to get back on the trail again.  This used to be our CJ-7, but it's going to go a whole lot more places than that 7 would ever go.  Our first big trip will be to Moab in late March, but he's hauling it out to Salton Sea at the beginning to place in a booth, ready or not (at least it will look good! )

frame upgrades:

3/4 scale bucket seats for the kiddies:

side view with some of the body panels:

one from the front:

I can't wait to take it to Utah!

A friend of ours owns a shop (Grandpa's Garage).  His name is Danny Grimes, and the guy who built it works out of Danny's shop.  His name is Ryan but I don't know his last name.  Jeff did some of the work and this guy Ryan did most of the work, especially the suspension.   :good

FatCity offroad eng. is building the chassis.
They built a car that won the Fourwheeler Top truck challenge a few years ago( FatCity Bronco) and help design the "Sniper"
I am real lucky to get them to build this car as they don't build alot of cars anymore.

What a project this thing has turned out to be. I could not have done it without a lot of help from my friends.

If you guys are looking for parts this guy is the key to this thing getting built.
Rockbuggysuply.com
He can get just about anything quickly and at a great price. Best thing is that you just call him and the UPS man brings it.

I will post some more pics soon, We are finishing the build this weekend and then disassembling it to go to the painter on Tuesday.

Thanks for the kind words, It is going to be Bad ass! :good

I remember when the buggies first started showing up... everyone poo-pooed them as "cheating"...lol.

If I did anything more extreme than putting around the hills, I'd build one in a minute.  It's getting hard to find straight Jeeps to use as a base for build ups.  And even though you can now build a CJ7 from scratch, I'd rather put my money into a buggy...

That is how this one started. I have a cherry CJ7 tub and an advanced frame works frame out back, but it all kinda snowballed. I did not want to cut up the choice tub, nor spend that kinda $$$ on something that left me limited with the back seat.
I have been involved with rockcrawling pretty heavy for about 5 years. This is the first 4 seater I have built, the kids are old enough to go upside down now! :stupid  :D

I have to take the pictures down.  :cry

There is a magazine that says they are going to do a 4 page feature on the rig, but the dealio is that we have to take it off the net because they want the exclusive.  I guess they are really turned on  :D  by the fact that it is a 4 seater. The article will be in their April 1 edition (maybe it's an April Fool's Joke  :stupid ) and after that, I can share the pictures.  That's about the time we will get back from Moab, so I should have some goodies to post.

BTW, I get to check out the paint tonight.  Maybe I'll  try to sneak in one last picture.

I'm going to be back home the week before you guys go to Moab, I tried to switch things around so I could run up there and see you and this thing in action, but no go.   :(

Sleek- The magazine is "Extreme Offroad" It is a new magazine out. I don't know if you can get it at the stands yet.  We got our subscription online.  It's pretty much strictly rock crawling and comp coverage.  We were really impressed when we got the first issue at the quality of paper and the thickness of it.  They didn't hold back, that's for sure.

I don't think its a problem to put the pics back up on this forum, but I'm an idiot and can't figure it out. OOHH Angie!

The paint came out bitchen on the chassis, what a bitch to paint tube. I chose to paint over powdercoat because we are building it so fast that I'm sure we will have to weld something on this thing and it would be a drag had I powdercoated.

I got tho motor back in as well as the trans and transfercase. I also got both axles back under it and started on the hydro assist steering today.

I had to chop the hood in half also as it did not fit right, lets see what we can do with glass?

I have 3 weeks left to get it running. The biggest wait right now is that the firewall needs to be finished. I can not move forward with out it. The guy welding it all up hopes to get it finished this week. If only I could tig weld :rolleyes

I'll try and get a few pics back up. But this mag spread is allready helping me. I have 2 different tire companies that want me to put there shit on it and I got a smokin deal on my seats so I think I better kiss some ass. :beer
