Nice ride Art :good I will ask around here also and see if I can find a coil rear. When I did my 68 I went the new axle route and redrilled my drums, worked fine but axles are much more expensive now.

First disc brakes on the trucks was 71. The 71-72 set up is a little different than the 73-87, but  it should all bolt in up front.....

Here's where things get interesting. They didn't make a 6 lug 2wd 1/2 ton disc brake set up 'til '99, but by then they had completely redsigned the truck, suspension and all. None of it will "Bolt in".....However I have found another alternative that I'm working on that may bolt in with minimal modifications, if any....I'll keep ya posted.....

When you do the front suspension, make sure that you install a sway bar!!

Short bed, that's the only reason I want it, figure I'll switch cabs and front clip, if I'm lucky the bed will be salvageable??.. Rear end will be replaced anyhow!..

I used a 3/4 ton front sway bar and front spring minus one coil from a 72 GMC with the 350. Used Early Classic dropped spindles and SSBC front disc setup. I was not impressed with the SSBC junk and will never buy anything from them again but everything I have ever purchased from Early Classic has been top quality. On the rear I fabricated my trailing arms and used standard 1/2 ton rear coils to get the drop I wanted. I built an adjustable rear panhard bar just like EC now sells. My 68 had a bad ass stance and handled like a dream, very fun to drive!

The only rear end I have found so far is a leaf rear but I am still looking :comp Local junk yards are picked clean :rolleyes

I Have A Leaf One That I'm Going To Put All Of THe Insides Of It In A Coil Housing......The Leaf Is 3:08 Geared ......I also used a 3/4 ton sway bar in mine. I started with the light duty 3/4 ton and moved up to the larger bar, It made it alot stiffer in a corner... :D  :D I'm going to see if AIM ind. makes a Drop Spindle for the set up that I'm going to try.....

I can't remember for sure but the front bar I used was 1 1/16 or 1 1/8. After all the suspension mods 425HP 350 and 700R4 the truck felt like a Camaro or Vette. I had a 4.10 gear in mine and planned to go with a 3.55 but never got to it. All this talk makes me want another one :D
