Hey Glen, if it's been sitting that long I'd pull the pan and clean it, that motor I put in the ditch pump sat for 16 years brand new never fired with new oil in it, and the bottom of the pan was full of sludge and the oil was real thin and no body to it, same with the Nova, I was told it sat for 10 years I pulled the pan same thing, oil like water and sludge in the bottom of the pan, oh, and it stunk also,LOL..... Should be able to get the parts at Checker, I just got a new water/fuel pump and gaskets for the old inline no problem, and the water pump was new not rebuilt!..

Yeah but that oil is bad it's not really oil anymore, all the essentials has separated and what's left won't lubricate anything!.. If I remember right the motor has to be lifted to take the pan off, but I'm sure by now the front and rear main seals are shot, at least they will be when you turn it over and it probably has the old rope seal in the back, so that's a given there!..
