Picked up a new ride over the weekend, got it from Cali but it's an AZ car, no rust and it's not beat up it's real solid. Only thing is the front end, it needs to be completely rebuilt, of course I wasn't told that up front!. but I came out ok with it anyhow, just didn't want to do that much work on it, but I need something to do anyhow, right!.. Quote (Purple Jurk @ June 08 2009,7:40 am) | Very Nice Art! Â Â Â Looks to be in really good shape. I don't see any dents form the pic's. That front end work will be a snap. Not hard to do at all if you can find the bushings.
Great find! Â |
Thanks Rod, Yeah, I looked at bunch of them and none came close to this one, and all were more expensive. There's only one spot on the left quarter but it's because it was repaired at one time and they didn't do it right!.. Front end is nothing, you can get complete kits for them, I was kinda looking at this, pretty simple deal just bolt it on!..

You think you can find something more "vintage" than what's in it now.
BTW, I thought real vintage air was 6 windows down at 60 mph. |
You haven't heard of Vintage Air???..

Yeah, most are 6 windows down, that was high dollar options back then!..

No, never heard of them before. Look to be really nice kits for clean installs. I bet they could make me a nice kit for a T-Bucket.

Give them all the dimensions and they'll make up a unit that looks like it was a factory install!..

Vintage air makes a great product. Â Â Used their unit in my 72 chevy P/U. I still like the looks of the original beast, however. Â |
If you saw it up close it is butt ugly, and it looks aftermarket!.. First thing the wife said when she saw the car was, this is coming out, right!..

Quote (Carrera Elite @ June 11 2009,2:17 pm) | Doesn't Look Too Bad!! How Much "Cancer" Does It Have?? It May Be Time For A New Bungie Battery Strap..... |
No "cancer" at all she's rust free, car has been in Gilbert it's whole life until this guy bought it, in fact it still has the Az plate on it!. One spot on the left quarter is starting to bubble, but that's from a repair that wasn't done right!.. Bungie is like new but will be replaced with an appropriate hold down!..

I Thought That May Be Some Rust Bubbling On The Lower Left Rear....Pretty Common As Well As The Lower Tailgate And Fender Corners On Those...... Maybe Some New Plumbers Tape For The Battery?? Â Â Â |
First place I looked was the tailgate and nothing at all, I was surprised I couldn't find any rust anywhere, that one spot is from a blotched up repair. It does need all new window seals and door rubber though!.. I'll pass on the plumbers tape though!..

Started looking into the front end over the weekend, and the more I dug into it the more junk I found, just about everything is original and wore out completely!. So, since I'm buried in this thing I may as well do it "right", so tubular A arms, a rack and disc brakes are replacing the stock weak stuff!..

Yes it will, it's a 4 lug now but will be 5 when it's all done!. I wasn't going to do this at first, but when I started pricing all the parts that it needs to rebuild it stock(with "good" stuff)and still have a weak suspension that won't last, this don't cost much more and will last a long time, so over the long run it's not really more expensive!..Oh, and not to mention spending a $hit load of hours trying to clean 47 years of crud build up, when the oil filter was changed the spillage on the frame was never wiped up!..
