well iam just trying to see if some of you great folks could maybe have some ideas to help my friend Brent S.(gnarle)out with his new build 540 chevy engine thats mix oil with water :confused

here is the facts that brent wrote to me :comp

This is what I know: the block was magnafluxed no cracks seen, 170 lbs per cyl, 30lbs in the cooling system no leaks, engine runs very cold without a thermostat, we are going to put in a 4 place thermostat Greg Shoemaker says its building steam in the engine with the cold water hitting the hot heads but 1/2 a quart in 30 minutes!!! I dont know!!! The only thing we havent checked is the wet exhaust manifold gaskets... as it has a wild cam and may be compromising the exhaust port. also ask him what pitch prop I should run with 530HP @ 4500 it has a 350 turbo hydro and I can pull a skier up in 3rd gear it pulls a skier @ 35mph @ 3800 rpm and I would like it to be 2200 - 2500

Ok, not to change subject's here, But I just say this thread, I'd like to take the time to say hi to "wet-swede" I readly enjoyed looking over all the pic's you have posted, I find realy cool to see pic's from other parts of the world and to see your not that much diff. that us, I just wish the rest of the world would stop all this war and killing going on, it sicken me, But anyways good to see ya man, I myself have been under a snow drift here on the northcoast "ohio". The overlap on the cam may be having something to do with it. Intake gaskets/head gaskets maybe leaking, but if its holding 30psi in the cooling system probably not. Can he run the motor with water going to it without the boat being in the water? That would pin it down to the exhaust system.
