Ok so heres the last one and the back of the boat.

so now that you've looked at the pics, what you guys think or suggest? any sort of advice would be greatly appreciated. Don't assume that I know something because like i said, this is my first boat. I've driven them and changed the oil in them, (jets) but that's about the extent of it!

thanks guys.

Well the first thing you need to do is lose the tires, they have no value on a boat, sorry dude couldn't resist!. :D  :laugh

Anyhow, the boat don't look bad for it's age, :good  got a pic of the back?.. You don't have a Casale v-drive, that is an old Hallcraft paralel drive which is ok if you just plan on using the boat the way it is, but I'd pop the case and drain the oil and check it out and put a fresh batch in it!.. I would go thru it from one end to the other though before I'd put it in the water, whoever had it before was pretty crude about stuff, I'd also recommend putting a driveline guard closer to the paralel drive, if for some reason the driveshaft should come apart at that end it will tear things up bad, including body parts!.... One question though before I go into detail, what are your plans for this boat????.... :stupid

quite honestly, all I want to do with this boat is make it a nice boat to cruise the river on. I like the fact that it is small and has an sbc, and well, that it's old and don't see too many like it where I go on the river.(Blythe) I have no intentions of racing the boat what so ever. And as for the tires yeah I know... tacky :D   but I took these pics right after I picked it up and brought it home for the first time. The only thing i did to it was pull the original bench seat out.

thanks

Does the paint look better in the pics than it does in person?? It doesn't look too bad from the pics that you have posted.

the paint does'nt look too bad, but I am picky and do want a nice boat on the river you Know? I use some of the boat restoration stuff my dad had layin around the garage. it made a difference, but it was'nt a total jaw dropper. :rolleyes  my dad told me that I should run it with the paint like that for one season then decide if I want to go through the trouble of getting it painted. I am starting to lean more towards his advice and focus more on the mechanical part of the boat. It's not the ugliest boat I've seen on the river thats for sure, but it's not the best either :banghead as of right now I'm focusing on getting an interior figured out for it. Anyone ever seen a v-drive 4 seater? all the pics I look at either have only 1 or 2 seats in them!

thanks guys :good

Well I have to agree with your dad 400% on this, I wanted to say the same thing but I didn't want to make you feel bad or piss you off!. The Stevens is far from an ugly boat(check out mine)but this boat has issues and naturally it means time and $$$$ to make it right and I'll garantee you won't like the way it is now!. So what I recomend for now is check everything out to make sure it's "safe" and run it and see if you like the boat, if you do like it then make a project out of it, restore it and you'll have a fun boat and a classic.. As far as a 4 seater goes they'rs tons of em out there with back to back bucket seats!.. :good

thanks guys :good  and as for pissing me off, no worries on that :rotflmao  I am totally on sponge mode when I am in here. I appreciate any kind of constructive criticism because like I said before, I am totally going into this boat not knowing anything, so any advice or tips you guys are willing to dish out, I am more than willing to take. :bowdown  As for the plans with the boat, I've put the paint job on hold for now, other than going through the motor and wiring and drive assembly to make sure everything is in working order, I've got interior issues to figure out. If you guys have any pics of interiors with the boat the same color as mine, i would appreciat it.  :D

thanks
