I can feel your pain whene it comes to a new engine giving problems in a short period of time and having big plans and stressing about making theme.

I'm still paranoid about it but what can ya do, just park it and not use it. And my Summer vacation is centered on the boat so I got to deal with it. But your right the stress can be alittle much sometimes. I'm 2 for 2 with problems on lake trips this year :( my friends tell me I should write a book about all the crap I've been through with boats over the years. When we hook-up, we'll break open a 12 pack and tell horror stories :beer

Just think though, if everything would go perfect you would never have anything to do!. :laugh When I don't have trouble with mine, my friend always tells me I need to "take it home and work on it", I say why?, he says  "it's too reliable" the fun's over!... :jumpie  :laugh

The true way to do it is cut the filter open and if there is debree(i mean slight), run a magnet over it, if nothing sticks then it is not steel(if you get steel, there's a problem!;), put a new filter on and run the shit out of it again, cut the filter again, it should be clean, if it is you have a good motor, enjoy the shit out of it!.. :good

I forgot to mention, Jim from Performancejet called me awhile back and told me that he thinks the noise/knock that I'm hearing/feeling is the sloppy clearance between the coupler and the pump input shaft, he's pretty sure. Something about the pump not being loaded enough to stay tight. Which would explain with the pump unhooked(which by the way is a bitch on my boat) the noise was gone. And when I put it back together I greased the splines on the input and when I started it the first time after I got it all back together the noise was gone but it came back later probably after the grease got slung around.

We're heading out this weekend, probably Roosevelt to put some more time on it and see how it goes and of course     :drink It would be nice to have a smooth trip this time  :jumpie  :good Just have to roll with it  :cool

I wouldn't mind being the last man on Earth - just to see if all of those girls were telling me the truth.
