Ive never seen a broken push rod before until i opened up my valve cover and found a push rod missing. Took out the intake manifold and found the push rod in two pieces. Ive seen em bent before but not broken. Also the lifter was missing the part where the push rod sits. Found them next to the broken push rod pieces.
Any body know what could have caused this?  What should i look for, check for,etc.... Thanks in advance

Well not knowing anything about your motor, I'll take a wild guess and say it's either junk parts just gave up, or you floated the valves and things bound up???.. :stupid

Regardless, I'll bet there's a lot more wrong now than just a broken rocker and push rod.

My motor is a 454 and junk parts? i dont think so. The motor was built last year according to the seller. Boat was running good before this happened. And I was idling back to the dock when it broke. Thats when i heard the rattling noise..
