ok, this might sound  :stupid  dumb,
but the best anchor for offshore might be something to get me hung up or loose my danforth in river rock...
so...
whats best, for 28ft and 8,000lbs?
(in case the boat dont sell...)
:D

i hear of "box anchors" do they hold, or worse, get STUCK.
:beat

Box anchors work excellent and will not get stuck...the key is pull straight up when you are retreiving. I've had three boats on mine with no problems....

By the way, all the rivers I've been on don't have a ton of rock on them....is all nice and soft sand.

so, you dont think i'd have a problem with big fortress type anchor... ? (deep floppy twin blade/sand anchor..)

my luck i'd find a power line or some crap...

i did hook a trotline on brownwood lake once...
by the time i got unhooked, poor guys bait was mostly popped off, but hell, it wasnt marked for crap, not even an old mossy milk jug..!!!

i hope West Marine can get me one...
still need to get me a sunbrella, damn sure gonna need some shade out west...

do you guys mostly beach up or tie up in groups?

or eveyone anchors on their own...
is the current strong in the river..?

we have grown custom to the bay here, high/low tides etc...

run up far on a beach and be floating free by morning...
or worse pull up for a "photo shoot" or whatever and find yourself high and dry..  :eek

Not that anyone else has said it here, but try the box anchor.....I swear by them, whereas I only swore at our old danforths!!!

Also get yerself a spike too. They hammer in and hold really well!  It makes good sense to tie at both ends in the sand, keeps the boat in place and safe.

For your boat I would reccommend the "red tip" anchor.....(the color coding makes it easy for us intellegence inhibited types......)

roger that, we dont like things to move around when we dont want them too....

we usually throw out a single off the front, and spin with the wind (over night) keeping the airflow in our snorkle/hatch over the bed, on long weekends on the water. its nice to escape behind the islands, out of the intercoastal waterway, we have never had a problem out there.

no one messes with anyone...  :beer  :ass  :good  :peace
