I was just reading a piece on "winterizing"...the norm was to fill the tank full, then add stabilizer.  The article mentioned that the "new fuel" w/Ethanol will not keep...so run your tanks as dry as possible, it said.

Makes sense it me. Storing the boat full for a month didn't bother me. Storing for 3-4 months, then having to run out 50 gallons of junk fuel. Gasoline starts breaking down after 2 weeks. This is to much work, I'm cancelling winter.

Boats eat Batteries.

Boats don't eat up batteries, it's the conditions and climate that eats them up!. I kept the boat in the garage(hot)always pulled the battery and kept it in the shop where it was cool, I've had it for 8yrs now and it's still good!.. :good

Same here.....takes only a couple of minutes, but I bring the battery home with me after every trip. Made a spot under my work bench with a maintainer where it lives until it's time to go out a gain.  :good

I just buy them at Costco and swap them out about 1 month before they are out of warranty.   :D

Sta-Bil works great, they claim it preserves fuel for a year, I don't know about that but I do know that it works for 6 months, fuel was still nice and fresh!.. :good

Oh BTW, you can go ahead and cancel winter anytime!.. :D  :laugh

Is "Sta-Bil" the full name? Where can I get it?
6 months would be plenty good.

Did you get better mileage with it??, they say it helps but I never noticed a difference, the only thing I noticed that it does clean the system can tell by the idle, but Acetone does the same thing and way cheaper. The best thing about it is that it brings bad gas back to life!..

Can't say if I gained any mileage or not. We have used the boat more this summer than the past few years so I have not had to put it in this season untill the last trip to Havasu a couple weeks ago. I did notice the trip before it started to run a little rough. not sure if it was the fuel or if just may be ready for plugs, cap & rotor and plug wire since they are the originals.
