Pretty much what's on sale that has some power, this one is a Duralast and it's been a good one, it is starting to show it's age a little though!..

I Have a group 27 marine battery from WallyWorld thats on it's third season. So far so good. Inbetween outings I have one of them solar chargers. I diso the battery and connect up the panel. I haven't had to put a charger on the battery for a couple years now.

I think just about any battery will last providing you take care of them, just like anything else I guess!..

I was just reading a piece on "winterizing"...the norm was to fill the tank full, then add stabilizer. The article mentioned that the "new fuel" w/Ethanol will not keep...so run your tanks as dry as possible, it said.

Boats don't eat up batteries, it's the conditions and climate that eats them up!. I kept the boat in the garage(hot)always pulled the battery and kept it in the shop where it was cool, I've had it for 8yrs now and it's still good!.. |
Same here.....takes only a couple of minutes, but I bring the battery home with me after every trip. Made a spot under my work bench with a maintainer where it lives until it's time to go out a gain. Â |
I just buy them at Costco and swap them out about 1 month before they are out of warranty.

Quote (WATERDOG @ Sep. 27 2007,8:39 am) | Storing the boat full for a month didn't bother me. Storing for 3-4 months, then having to run out 50 gallons of junk fuel. Gasoline starts breaking down after 2 weeks. This is to much work, I'm cancelling winter. |
Sta-Bil works great, they claim it preserves fuel for a year, I don't know about that but I do know that it works for 6 months, fuel was still nice and fresh!..
Oh BTW, you can go ahead and cancel winter anytime!..

Is "Sta-Bil" the full name? Where can I get it? 6 months would be plenty good.

If your talking about the stuff itself, I've had some on the shelf for almost a year and it was still good, it wasn't out in the heat though!.

Did you get better mileage with it??, they say it helps but I never noticed a difference, the only thing I noticed that it does clean the system can tell by the idle, but Acetone does the same thing and way cheaper. The best thing about it is that it brings bad gas back to life!..

Can't say if I gained any mileage or not. We have used the boat more this summer than the past few years so I have not had to put it in this season untill the last trip to Havasu a couple weeks ago. I did notice the trip before it started to run a little rough. not sure if it was the fuel or if just may be ready for plugs, cap & rotor and plug wire since they are the originals.
