Any time!..

Quote (lakebound @ Dec. 10 2007,12:19 pm) | That is true. Â But since the Sea Pump is bad I can't really take to the lake and test it they way it needs to be tested. So I figured since I had it out I Â would install the Sea Strainer in it so I hopefully don't go thru impellars as fast. Or end up with hoses packed full on sand. |
If the pump is bad, all testing is bad too. Replace the pump First. As far as a stainer making the pump last longer, I don't know. Simple, easier, and cheaper, stay out of the sand.

Well, if the pump actually is bad, then it needs to be replaced before anything can be evaluated!. A strainer will prevent garbage from going thru the pump and ruining the impeller, but as said stay out of the sand boats are made to run in water!.. As far as the T-Stat goes, I learned a long time ago to not to rely on the temp rating, anytime I buy a new one before I install it I put it in a pot of water on the stove and put it to the test, be surprised at how many don't meet the rating, be a good idea to do the test and see if it's actually 140!.. I still think there's a blockage somewhere though!..

Something that just came to mind. When I was doing autopart sales I had a guy chasing a fuel delivery problem. No matter what he did, at high rpm the motor would run out of fuel. Come to find out he had a hose that had a loose peice in it like a flap. At high volume flow it acted like a valve and dropped down and shut the fuel off. Drop of flow it opened the line up. Not saying that is your problem but just a thought of something to look at.

Seen a lot of that with fuel, especially guys that put braided line together and don't clean the line out before installing, all it takes is a little chunk to plug things up!..

Your dump, from where ever the water exits the motor to the headers/logs, or what ever you are using, if there's a restriction somewhere it won't allow the water to flow, it's a process of elimination, start from the pickup and work your way to the outlet where it goes back to the lake, you'll find it somewhere along the route!..
BTW, what is your temp when the alarm goes off!.. |
I gotcha.   I will definitively  have to check that. As for the temp it gets to about 195 to 198 somewhere in there. And to answer Waterdogs question, It seems only to do it when I'm cruising. Once I get on plane and start running. It seems to only do it then. I have yet to encounter it when I'm just idling thru a no wake zone or just sitting there idling. Usually it seems I'll be doing anywhere between 35 mph to 55 mph. |
Well from what you're saying here that eliminates the T-stat, you have a restriction in the flow somewhere and you need to find it, if it's on the outboard end it could cause excessive pressure in the motor, and that can end up with a milkshake and replacing gaskets!. Where you at?, you can't be too far from me, if you get stuck maybe you can drag it over and I'll take a look at it, should be able to find it!.. |
i had a small crack in the water hose on the outside under the gimble housing from the drive to the gimble that was fine when i was at an idle and would start sucking air as i got up on plane and it was out of the water so you might check that good luck
boats&babes what else is there
