My little 6.2 has always ran at 160. On long stregthes at WOT it would creep up to 165. Had new impeller put in. Now just cruising at 3000-3200, temp goes up and down from 140 to 175. Going thru thompson at 600 temp varies from 135 to 175.
Anybody got an idea what's up?

Funny You Should Mention This..... Mine Usually Stays 150 or under On The Guage. This Afternoon It Was Over 190 At Cruise, But Would Drop To 150- 160 At An Idle.....I Think My Impeller Is Shot.....

most mercrusier engines usually run at 160 to 175 depending on what temp thermostat they have installed
ive even seen them cycle from 135 to 180 but they all vary a little depending on the gauge and sender to

boats&babes what else is there

Yeah, you didn't do it yourself!.... :D What else did they do besides the impeller that you don't know about?, were they nice and give you a new thermostat? :stupid

I've seen engines run in a range, but never that big a range....

Is there a chance they used the wrong impeller? It sounds like an impeller issue, or a crap thermostat...

Good luck!  :good

That's way to big a spread, could also be crud that was dislodged when the impeller was replaced and now hanging up at the t-stat or a line somewhere, seen that before!.. :beat

I'm sure I didn't get a new thermo as he would have told me and of charged for it. Also something I forgot to mention. After I pull it off the water, the outdrive will drop water for a couple of hours. Something else it never did. He did give me all my impellor pieces and said he flushed it twice.

Well, now that sounds like a restriction somewhere, time to trace it from one end to the other, you could guess at this for a month and not find it!..

Yeah, and back flushing can/will cause a blockage in the cooler, best to take it apart and clean it!..
