OK Folks, I made a tool tonight to hold the shifter slide in place. Took me 10 minutes and I had the 2 pieces on hand. I will have pic's of it this weekend. Once I post the "Tool" I can't wait to see who can come up with what I used as the main part of this tool.  :D

I pulled the slide off and removed the inner cable tonight. also loosened the clamps on the bellows. Tomorrow will be the cable housing and the old bellows, then put it all back together.

:good  That would be the part! I had several at work that are flat that worked out great for holding the slide.  As CE found, I did rivit an "L" bracket I had to it. If I need to I can twist tie or zip tie the bottom part to the bottom stud to help hold the slid level.  :good

I went and bought a 9/16, 1/2 drive socket that fit the cable nut dead on. But the nylon inner core of the cable housing was longer that the socket.

To fix the issue of getting a rachet on the socket I adjusted an extension. I had 2 extensions the same length. So I drilled out the end of one. A little over kill was I drilled past the lock ball. I ended up removing the lock ball and drilling past it. I guess I drilled about an inch into the extension total. Once the drilling and cleaning of shrapmetel. It was ready to use.

I have the cable out and the drive ready to go for the new cable. I have run accros a snag installing the new cable housing. Over the next few days I'm hoping to get it resolved.

Pretty cool  :good could have taken a deep socket and turned it down some couldn't ya?, would have saved a bunch of time messing with an extension, I would think!.  :stupid
