Hundreds of pre-1974 cars and trucks will line the streets of Old Town Temecula starting Friday night for the annual Fall Temecula Rod Run.

Everything from 30s and 40s hot rods to 50s customs and cruisers and 60s and 70s muscle cars will be on display and cruising along Front Street during the two-day event.

Front Street in Old Town will be closed at 1:30 p.m. Friday for the event, but will open from 5 to 8 p.m. for cruising from "arch to arch."

On Saturday, there will be a show-and-shine, where the hot rods will be on display. Trophies will be awarded in several categories. The event will start about 8 a.m. Saturday and end about 4 p.m.

It used to be. Way to dangerous these days. Was Sat and Sun, with lots of car events, like burn-out contests, going all day long. Then they cut off alcohol sales at 2PM. Then they cut it till 2 on Sat and none on Sunday. Now there's basicly no car events and it only runs till 4PM with no alcohol allowed, and Sunday is just plain gone.

I just changed my mind. Sounds like too many restrictions due to trouble in the past.

Too bad a few have to ruin it for many.  :rolleyes

This is the same event that last year a husband and wife and one other there leaving a restaurant and got attacked. He was an off-duty LEO that had to shoot and kill one of them. Not a real family day.
