Well, after a 2 year absence, I'm returning to Lake Havasu this memorial day.  I've heard that some things have changed, such as sandbar is closed off with a sherrifs boat, and copper cyn. is half roped off.  :(   I've heard there's a new spot but dont know where and would love any suggestions (the bridge is cool, but had a problem with hooligans walking around last time).  Also, wanna know if there are any good, morning "board" coves.
Heard that someone got stabbed at sandbar, is that true?
Did they carry a knife in their trunks?

JB

Welcome to the board jbelson!  :D  BTW, how did you find us?  Just curious.  :)

I wish I had answers to your questions, but I avoid Havasu on the  big holiday weekends.  Maybe someone else will jump into this thread to offer some info.  If you return to Havasu on June 21, we'll ALL be there!  :D

I agree with Doug, big weekends I avoid Havasu.  The way they close things on the lake, the traffic to get out of town sucks.  :rolleys

They have been alternating what is closed the last few years.  Sometimes it's th sandbar, other times it's the Copper Canyon.

As of the last year and part of the year before, the close off the Sanbar on the Holiday weekends.

The stabbing happened, I believe, 4-5 years ago.  There hasn't been anything that drastic to my knowledge since then except for the occasional fight from drunkenes.

Good cove areas to board at early or late are down towards the Havasu Springs/Havasu palms area.

Welcome to this site.  HAve fun!

also... don't attempt to leave your boat in the channel overnight anymore.  They are ticketing boat's left after 10 or 11 pm.  Somewhere around the cost of $300 ???? :angry

yes go to havasu that is the place to go :D .Great boating and empty launch ramps on memorial or any 3 day weekend :D .
Last time i did havasu on memorial was 6 years ago and dont care for going back!!last year was the first i did go boating since then but stayed south in aha quin twin palms area much more suited for me a sand bar that was happening and still smooth water even with a new boat i'll probably still skip on havasu this year leaning towards twin palms again.
