I heard that Chevy builds most dependable, longest lasting trucks on the road and that they are built "like a Rock".  I don't remember who told me those things, but they are primary reasons I one today.

Well, I pulled my Ford powered Elim. with two different Chevy's.  Just sold the last one.  Either truck has pros and cons.  I'm going diesel this time for the mileage, longevity and both the PSD and the D/A seem up to the task.  If I was towing over 10k regularly, I'd be biased towards the GM Allison tranny but for price on used market (01-02) Ford is best right now.  I am curious about the longevity of an aluminum block diesel such as the Duramax.  It seems contrary to be able to handle the heat over long periods such as towing grades in 100+ heat.  Time will tell though.  The best thing: there is truly an old fashioned "HP/Torque war" going on with the big 3 in the diesel arena.  All us consumers are the winners.  After researching Ford and Chevy (I won't go Dodge due to the short cab syndrome they have)
Following problems with Chevy:
Fuel filtering/ may need to ad a second
Injectors/ starting to read about failures

Fords:
Weak auto trannys with heavy loads towed
Oil leaks at rear of engine and near turbo.

I've always liked Chevy's but:
This piston slapping problem with the 6.0's is ridiculous.  I really like the 1500HD's but won't buy one as too many are having this problem.  GM is starting to replace motors and extend warranties on an individual basis.  It's really a shame they don't just do a recall.

But to bicker is stupid/ as stated earlier:  Chevy's always are designed to ride nicer, have nicer interiors/ Ford's are always sturdier and easier to lift.
To each his own.
Now, if I could only sell this Ford boat...LOL

Where in Mesa are you?  That park looks familiar.  Like one of the many we raced through in high school.  :D  I was born in Mesa and spent 25 years of my life there.  Had to get away.

Right on.  I grew up at Country Club and University.  My mom lives at Stapely and Main.  My grandparents are off Val Vista and McKellips.  Grandpa used to own the Groves at Brown and Val Vista when it was groves and not homes on citrus lots.  I remember when Brown Rd. was two lanes with an open ditch and pretty much ended at Val Vista...  Pretty amazing how much it's grown, even in the last 15 years.

Old metal is always better then new.  1985 GMC K2500.  197,000 miles.  Currently have a 396, but a 496 is going in when the weather warms up.  5 speed also.  And fuel injection.

Pulling an Olds though.

Total price?  About $6,000, or the same as a down payment on a new duramax, but with a pant load more class, and no payment.

No emissions is fun!!! :D  :D

I know that.  Mines a '94 with 234,000 miles give or take.  With my new job I have to use my own truck, but get a vehicle allowance and mileage.  My original plan was to run the wheels off my old truck as it's paid for, then buy a new truck to pull the toys around and just let it sit.  However, that plan is going to have to be scrapped as they want all the trucks to be less than 7 years old.  Oh well, guess I have to break down and buy a new truck now.  Bummer deal for me.  :D  I do like not having a  payment very much though.   :D
