There is a 06 Pete 379EXHD non Ultracab with the 48" sleeper 22.5 LP 475 twin turbo Cat C15 13 speed 3.36 rears. It would be perfect for us, light and @250" were trying to look around a little more but it sure is tempting to just buy new and get it over with. Used trucks are a crap shoot, the only reason we bought this one we have now was it was a friend of ours truck and he kept it up very well. |
You guys own the tanker too???..

That C-15 Cat is a helluva horse and will be more than plenty to do what you need to do. Going Pete is the best way for tanks because they are the lightest, yet super strong.

You might want to try a good acid bath first. Who knows, it may turn out nice enough where painting isn't necessary.

Hauled a load of Diesel from El Paso a couple of mounths ago with a borrowed 04 Pete with the C15. Loved it. Our truck was in the shop getting the overhead done and my ol-man was out of hours. Our 95 379 with the 63" flattop 265" wheelbase is lighter than my Uncle's Kenworth with the small sleeper and shorter wheelbase. The resale on a Pete is so much better also, cant go wrong

One of these days I'll post a pic. It has been acid washed and brightened many times but Its still white. Im going to polish the front head and see how it looks, if that one looks good Ill do the back head but it will probably be paint for the barrel. Prob is we cant let it sit, it would be a huge job to polish the whole trailer. The hose tubes and fenders will make all the difference in the world. I'll wait and do some before and after pics.

Most of the time we go empty to El Paso, every once and a while we might get a pump job in Douglas, Safford etc. that loads in Tucson and then to El Paso but not often. There is less than 2 gal total left in all compartments after unloading so no washout. Only time we washout is to haul Jet fuel or work on the trailer. |
You're darn tootin' you have to washout before haulin' jet.
I remember a few years back a whole plane load of sky divers were killed in Perris, Ca. and it was all because of contaminated jet fuel. It didn't take the FAA, NTSB and the CHP long to pin it on a lazy truck driver who didn't bother to washout.

Well I'll be dipped, didn't think it would pay to go all the way to El Paso empty Make for a nice turnaround trip!. No more than 2 gals left huh, that's pretty good I guess you wouldn't need to do a washout for that, but defenitely for Jet Fuel!..

Most of the Jet Fuel is hauled by the same trucks all the time, less chance for contamination

Quote (weldwade @ Sep. 17 2005,8:25 am) | This should piss everyone off, the Pipeline from El Paso to Tucson/Phoenix is too small. Every day there is at least 20 trucks running Diesel transfers from El Paso to Tucson because the pipe cant handle the demand. Also every day there are 50-100 trucks loading in El Paso to deliver all over AZ and NM. 99% of them are empty going to El Paso, and everyone hates $3.00 a gallon fuel. But FOCK NO you cant put in any more Pipelines or Refineries because it will kill off all the precious Pigmy Owl's... |
Ain't that the shits, I'd sure like to know what these treehuggin mtfrs have over the government, I mean wtf whatever they say goes, they rule and that just ain't right!..
