Hey BB, do those guys still hang out at the rest area in the gorge??. They used to sit there just waitin to harrass somebody all the time!.. :angry

The rest area's been closed for several years Art, but it's still there and about once per year they use it to corral trucks for a big D.O.T. party. :angry  Now they just camp out at the AZ./NV. state line and run trucks down for roadside inspections on the freeway shoulder. :stupid

That mudflap law was one of many they passed in the 80s to go after the lifted trucks.  Total BS, I got a couple tickets for it in the 80s. :ass

ok sure, this IS going back a ways... i was reading...
the whole mud flap thing...
for trailers with more that one axle...

3. A single axle trailer with fenders wide enough to cover the full tread or treads of the tires being protected and that extend to a length of not more than fourteen inches from the ground.

i sure hope my fenders are closer than 14" (better than that 8"...!;)

The DOT sit at the bottom of the hill to bust the truckers that are riding there brakes, so when there at the bottom there brakes will be OUT of ajustment and they can give him another ticket, easy money, the way I see it is you don't need flaps on your trailer unless the fender is higher than 18 inches or 14, as far as your dully go's I'm not into the law, but I know the Dot laws, and if it is stock then I don't think you would not need them, unless you lift it, Because the truck came from the mang. to meet all DOT laws, Here in ohio my truck is 26 inches from the ground, but we don't need flaps, and I can go up to, 31 or 36 inches high.

I was living in Flagstaff in '88 and pulled a cop out of a snow field with the old 77 F250 with the lift and 35" tires.....He thought the law was BS and wouldn't write for it. If anything he said it helped to increase following distance by discouraging tailgating with "visual aides"..... :D

So guess what I get in the mail today???

A nice letter from William J. Bratton, Chief of Police. :guns

It seems one of my drivers got a ticket a couple of weeks ago. For what you might be thinking???

A Missing Mud Flap! :banghead

I guess the L.A.P.D. is worried about all the rocks on Alameda Ave. getting kicked up when you cruise through there at a blistering 15 mph! :stupid

Well, at least they didn't shoot him. :rolleyes

I put the shorty mud flaps on my truck a while back and ended up ripping the RR off during one of the monsoon storms. I put off replacing it for a few days and on my way home from work I got nailed by DPS on I-19 and got a repair order. Dodge is putting flaps on their new Dually's but ford and Chevy are not here in T-Town. If you buy a new one make them put them on.
