Hello all,

Im getting close to pulling the trigger on a new truck. And Im thinking that the Chevy 2500HD Deisel is the winner..  

Anyone have an opinions: for or against this one?  Im also looking at the Ford 250?  


And also.. what mileage can I expect?  I am getting answers all over the board?

You'll love it, the newer model has a 6 speed auto transmission, I have an '04 that has the 5 speed auto, the transmission alone is a reason to avoid Fords, the Alison is kick ass.

Your mileage is going to vary, I can get upto 16mpg in the City, if I keep my foot out of it, I generally get about 14.5, I can have a heavy foot at times, on the highway I've been able to get about 20, that's with the cruise control set at about 68 and the motor at about 2100 RPM's.

I looked at that site, apparently they are about to change body styles.  A guess a little more to think about. But the Allison is definatly a huge plus!

I'm staying on the fence a while longer. My tow vehicle is all paid for and only gets used when towing so I'm not in a big rush to run out and drop a chunk of change on a new truck just yet.

I don't think I'd touch a Ford right now. I have 2 buddies who have new F250's and have had a few issues. I hear they will be coming out with something new very soon and I'm especially waiting to see if Dodge really does put a Mercedes diesel in their pick-ups. :stupid

It's a fact of Life:

After Monday and Tuesday, even the Calendar says : WTF .......

Almost bought a Sierra 2500HD with the Duramax Allison package....but then this new ULSD law came out, and now all '07s have to meet new particulate standards and are using a particulate trap that must occasionally burn up the trapped matter....and well, it all sounded like a B.G.H.C.F. in the making to me....

SO the mighty 5.3L 4x4 Sierra will have to tough it out another 100K or so....(But hey, its paid for!!! )  :good

......and it already has some nice Arizona Pinstriping!!

Ive worked out the deal.. and I think Im grabbing it today.

its the 2500HD Duramax/Allison, LT3 4x4, crew cab.  The only think I dont like is the tires seem tiny, but Im gunna just leave em.  But I am looking at one of those diesel tuners that I have seen on trucks tv.  

Anyone have  a hookup for tuners, and a shell?

I have heard alot of good things about the "Edge" tuners!! As far as the tires, I mine came with 235-75-16, but I went up to 265-70-16. I have heard that people have put 285's on the stock wheel without any problems.....

If you keep an eye on Craigslist.org. and RV/Truck Trader, You can find shells for about half of what a new one costs...

Ive been looking at the bully dog...  It seem a little much to get almost 900 ft/lbs of torque and 450hp from a diesel..  

But It sure is tempting!!!

The Truck's episodes that I saw used Bully Dog stuff.  Seemed to be for the most part easy to install and realy made a huge difference in performance depending on what setting it was at.

I know.. I saw that same episode!  Thats alot of power.. but I have been reading in those forums that are posted above.. and it seems that there are some serious tradeoffs to the higher level ones.  I guess the trannys start to grenade on the higher levels without mods...  

That propane injections is pretty interesting too...
