Ford vs Chevy Again. I have both, now what?
Both 3/4 ton, both big blocks, both can tow my boat with no problem. Mileage not included. Both road tested on Rice Road at 100+ mph (only once each). Both have uncomfortable seats. Wife likes the Ford seats best. Then we have my '75 GMC. New built 502 is just plain scary. Way over built it'll never be "tested". 1.6 mpg city, 4 mpg highway.

Sure you got the Duramax??  My 6.0 sounds just like the Duramax in the morning and has the same power your describing.   :D

Same lack of power?

Yes.  The lack of.  I like my truck just needs to have more umph on the road.

I know around town last I checked I was getting about 12.5 mpg. I have not checked on the road with or with out towing.  Next time to Havasu i will try to remember to check it. I know If I mind my P's and Q's and travel 65 i can get to havasu on one tank and have about 1/8 tank left.  70 I make it to Parker with less than an 1/8 tank left.  :eek

I have a 2003 4X4 Crew Cab Dually Duramax with the Allison. 125,000 miles of HEAVY towing and still the original brakes. I can load up my camper 11' overhead with all my shit and the boat set the cruise at whatever I want and it does it. I have the leather 10 way adjustable seats been on many long trips with no pain at all. I have a 20' 22,000 GVW Goose Neck that I load the shit out of and it does great, plenty of power for my needs and I average 14 to 15 mpg loaded and 20 to 21 empty. If I were to buy a new one it would be the new 6.7 Cummins. I drove one last week and it has many great features. Seats suck though! Drove a new DMax also and it will kick the shit out of my current truck. There had to be something wrong with that truck you drove Art. I don't care what it is they are all overpriced garbage now days. Art's truck is paid for, runs good, looks good and did I mention paid for!!! $4-600 payments will buy plenty of gas every month... well a couple of gallons at these prices :banghead

This new Diesel emission BS is not working on any trucks :angry I am very pissed off that CAT is no longer making over the road engines as of now because of the emission problems!!! WTF is going on in this country??? I don't have a choice I have to have a new truck for work or I would have a older Dually like Arts. IMO it is hard to beat an older truck :D

Well, ya know it could very well be since that's the only one that I've driven so I don't have anything to compare it with. It did have power, it didn't know the difference up hill or down just that it took forever to get the power up, and if you need to get going quick, it didn't happen(scary on a two lane road when passing) and the tranny is the biggest slush box I've ever seen, a beat up old TH400 shifts better than that!. And it's pretty bad when you can't go much more than 100 mi in a brand new vehicle and you have to get out because your ass and back are so frikkin sore, I can go from here to LA non stop and not be sore at all!.. All I know is that thruck was the worst POS that I've driven in a long time, my old 73 dually is 10 times the truck that thing is!.. :rolleyes

Mine holds about 25 gals of gas, so it still has some in it when I get to the Zoo. The truck gets about 8-10 mpg all of the time.

Is it just me being a friggin' retard and not understanding this? 3/4 to a full tank to get from the PHX areas to Parker? :eek That appears to be where many are from. That is terrible! I tow my boat from Highland, Ca. to Parker(205 mi each way) and back home on one tank(38 gals.) with my Ford 6.0 dually, usually driving about 74, and that's with 35" tires and not regearing. I make it to Parker towing my 40" toyhauler on just over 1/2 tank.

We're talking about a 454 on gas with a 20 gal tank, 9-10mpg!..  :)

Sounds about right, with the overdrive I could make it into Parker and had an 1/8 of a tank left with the camper and towing the boat, that's right from my house!.. :good

Of course that's with a reall shitty exhaust system which is being replaced Monday, should get a little better mileage after that!.. :good

Oh, ok, big blocks! I was reading(skimming over) the D'max posts, and thought those ugly ass Isuzu trucks were junkier than I knew about! :flamed  I've got 3 friends who have them, and they have all had the typical well known overheating problems with them while towing. All 3 are buried in their trucks and want out  :banghead . I told them when they bought them, bowties are for little boys, and Allison is a girls name! :rotflmao

Learned how to do that with the newspaper industry.
A quote is almost never a quote.
It's like buying a boat. Dealer quotes you a price, by the time your out the door, the "quote" isn't even close.

WTF :stupid It’s only 110* to 117* or hotter where I live and travel to in AZ. Never heard of a "common overheating problem" with any of the diesel p-ups at all. I'm not going to brag on any new truck Chevy, Ford or Dodge they all have pros and cons. Every "NEW" vehicle is an overpriced plastic POS now; I don't care what it is. Just comes down to personal preference :rolleyes
