I've been messing around with the board today, so I hope that didn't cause problems for anyone. Some of the things I did was:

1) added locations to profiles on topic views.
2) added average posts per day (APPD) to topic views.
3) changed those font colors to set them apart from the posts
4) increased font sizes on the topic views.
5) got rid of the old background color on the quotes as the links didn't show well on it.
6) centered the "online" light bulb so the screen name and title would, also, be centered.
7) changed the active users timeframe to 30 minutes as I'm used to that setting on hotboat.
8) italiced the quotes.

Does anyone mind? :confused

I changed the category names to avoid some confusion. Â The board name has always been "Havasu Doug Forums". There are 2 categorys of forums though. Â The first set was called "Havasu Doug Forums" and the second set was called "Havasu Doug Services". Â I changed the 2 category names to "H D Forums" and "H D Services" so we won't see this anymore: "Havasu Doug Forums>>Havasu Doug Forums>>Open Topic Forum>>Party At Dougs..." for example.

I played around today with a file called "favicon.ico" that Internet Explorer recognizes. I uploaded a little "HD" image to that file so that anyone that bookmarks this site will see the image in the bookmark. If you've already bookmarked it, you would have to delete it and rebookmark it to see it.

There's actually forums for guys that build and run these boards where they talk about various modifications and fixes. I don't normally follow them, but go there when I have a specific issue to solve. There will always be modifications that will make this place even better.

I heard it could be lost after running a "clean up" program that deletes temp files and browser cache's, but it was still fun to play with.

I'll send you the proper code you need on your site for it to function properly. You can have it on your links page, but that page needs to have a way for the WebRing surfer to get to your River Pics page. I suggest you put it at the bottom of your actual River Pics page because the surfers will just click past your site unless they see something interesting right away. I've been playing with Netscape and have found that these "favicon's" come up automatically with that browser.

I made a couple of changes:

1) I've been trying to get the avatars to size automatically so we don't have to set the dimensions manually. Â I think I got it completely fixed. Â It took awhile because the topic view, profile view, and private messenger view all required their own hacks.

2) Added the poster's Member # to the topic view.

3) Deleted the Group name of the poster from the topic view (everyone is in the same group anyway).

4) Dropped the "title" to below the avatar.

5) Made the "private message" and "profile" buttons more obvious. Also, added pop ups showing what those buttons do.

, has replaced the "member online lightbulb". I like the feature knowing when someone is online, but I wanted to make the image a little more fitting for this board.

I'm always messing around with the board a little at a time. I don't want to make changes that are too drastic, but that's something I wanted to do for a long time.

This just in.

Sometimes when someone new registers here, many of us don't recognize the screen name. I have added a feature that let's them tell who they were referred here by when they register. For those that are already registered, you can add that info from "Your Control Panel". When viewing someone's profile, it will show who referred them, the last person they referred, and how many they referred.

It's probably transparent to most peeps, but I switched the database for this board this morning. The new one is faster, more efficient, and most importantly, is less likely to get corrupted. :good

That happened on June 19th, but hopefully won't again with this new database.

The old "Attached Images" were lost, but I added a hack to give me a little more control over them in the future. I'll, now, be able to edit a post with an Attached Image and change the pic if necessary. Also, I added a hack to allow me to change screen names for anyone. That was requested by someone, so the feature is here.
