Well, I busted the LCD screen on my Nikon Coolpix 7.1mp digital... :cry jumping in/out of boats taking pictures for the website. :say?

I'm gonna see if it can be repaired...cost like $180 new.  Prolly not worth it... :banghead

I'm a "film guy" at heart, and would love to go full Digital SLR, but can quite justify the price(yet)... :rolleyes
What you say is the best "bang for the buck" out there in digital cameras...  :confused :stupid

Thanks...!!  :bowdown

Hey Gary, just caught this one.

We, er, my wife has a Canon digital Rebel. I gave it to her three years ago and it's one of the best cameras we/she/us ever owned.  :good

I got it primarily because it takes the same lens' as the Canon film camera we have.

I did just a good deal on 2, 7.1 mp Canon powershot A570 IS cameras for the kids. Under $150 on-line, free shipping and no tax.

Hey Gary,

We waited like 9 months for the new Canon 40D. This camera rocks like nothing else out there!  It has most of the features of the pro models, but at half the price! And it shoots 6.5 fps for sports, and has such great optics selection that I am totally sold on canon in general now, and this 40D in particular....and this coming from a die-hard Nikon fan!

We also have a waterproof shockproof Olympus 720sw (cause our other one was neither!;) that has taken all the pics I have posted here and over at YJB.

Good luck with your search!  :D

The glass is the key, and even if you get the Rebel line, as Glass said, you get access to the best best glass going right now...

I would be all over the Rebel as an entry to get to use the canon lens lineup, but we needed the fast fps to capture sports action....

40 D huh?

Does it come in Double D?  :laugh

I sure do like the customer service Canon has....I had a "waterproof" camera that somehow got water inside.....(read: dufus)

They replaced it at no charged, just said "Be more careful...wink"

The PowerShot SX100 IS features a 10x optical zoom lens with optical Image Stabilizer, 8.0 Megapixel image sensor (1/2.5") and DIGIC III processor. It's also got face detection (of course) and a full complement of auto and manual exposure modes, plus a 2.5" LCD screen
